Plans and manages designated service and support operations within a service center location. Assists the General Manager in providing management support to create an environment that promotes teamwork, continuous improvement, learning, customer satisfaction and high standards of service. Utilizes human resources effectively to increase business, manage workload and job costs, achieve production and margin objectives and provide quality services to customers and contractors.
As an Assistant General Manager - HVAC , you will support the overall leadership, profitability, and operational performance of the HVAC service center. This role drives service excellence, financial results, team development, and customer satisfaction while ensuring compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
Recruit, hire, coach, discipline, and develop service center staff, including technicians, dispatch, warehouse, and administrative personnel.
Establish clear performance expectations and production goals; conduct evaluations and performance reviews.
Lead regular staff meetings and training sessions to drive accountability, technical proficiency, and service excellence.
Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Oversee daily service center operations, ensuring adherence to company procedures, quality standards, and installation/service best practices.
Monitor dispatch operations to ensure efficient scheduling and equitable distribution of work based on technician skill level, availability, and job priority.
Supervise service functions to ensure quality workmanship, competitive pricing, and productivity targets are met.
Ensure proper documentation, reporting accuracy, and compliance with internal operational controls.
Implement operational plans and budgets to achieve revenue, profit, and growth targets.
Monitor departmental expenses and key performance metrics including call tracking, technician productivity, sales performance, vehicle maintenance, and cost controls.
Assist in establishing pricing structures, labor rates, and production benchmarks.
Support inventory management to maintain appropriate stock levels, control shrinkage, improve turns, and ensure accurate warranty processing.
Contribute to revenue generation by identifying new business opportunities and supporting local sales initiatives.
Assist in developing sales materials and conducting sales training for staff.
Support technician sales performance through coaching and performance tracking.
Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally and efficiently to ensure satisfaction and retention.
Maintain service standards that promote long-term customer relationships and brand reputation.
Maintain knowledge of local codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure compliance with all safety policies and promote a safe, accident-free work environment.
Oversee safety reporting and incident documentation.
As an Assistant General Manager - HVAC:
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
4–6 years of experience in HVAC or service operations management.
Trade licensure preferred.
Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and airflow principles.
Valid driver’s license required.
Some working knowledge of local codes and industry standards.
Demonstrated leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in computer systems, operational reporting, and financial management.
