The Payroll Processor is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of hourly payroll for employees across the organization. This role involves reviewing, validating, and maintaining payroll data to ensure compliance with internal procedures and external regulations. The individual in this position must demonstrate strong attention to detail, a commitment to data accuracy, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
The Payroll Processor works closely with branch teams, HR, and other internal stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve timekeeping or pay-related discrepancies. This position requires a foundation in payroll or administrative processes, with the ability to learn internal systems, follow established procedures, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
• Process hourly payroll on a weekly and/or semi-monthly basis in compliance with company policies and applicable wage and hour laws
• Review employee timesheets for completeness and accuracy; identify and help resolve inconsistencies or errors
• Maintain payroll records and update employee payroll data in the payroll system
• Communicate with field and department staff to ensure timekeeping and pay information is submitted correctly and on time
• Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and preparation of supporting documentation
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, hours, and deductions with professionalism and discretion
• Ensure payroll data is handled confidentially and in compliance with privacy requirements
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts and contribute to the refinement of payroll processes and procedures
• Some college preferred, with emphasis in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
• Equivalent relevant work experience in payroll, accounting, or administrative support roles may be considered in lieu of formal education
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with demonstrated ability to work with formulas, filters, pivot tables, and data validation tools
• Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in data entry and reconciliation
• Ability to interpret and apply payroll policies, procedures, and relevant regulations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team environment
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive data
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience with timekeeping systems and/or payroll software (e.g., UKG, Kronos, Workday, etc.)
• Familiarity with FLSA rules and multi-state payroll processing
