HVAC Instructor

The HVAC Training Instructor is responsible for the curriculum development and educational training for newly hired and tenured technicians across the national network of ARS branch locations. This opportunity will involve traveling to designated service centers to lead 10-week HVAC training programs relating to various aspects of residential HVAC skills and procedures. The Instructor will work collaboratively with the Director of Technical Training and additional learning and development team members to analyze needs, make design recommendations, develop technical training, and evaluate overall curriculum effectiveness. This position will require approximately up to 50% travel, with remote work in between training programs.

• Lead the instruction of engaging educational training programs on various aspects of residential HVAC processes in designated branch locations.
• Partner with L&D team to plan, direct, and execute HVAC Technician training strategy.
• Prepare or revise curriculum materials such as guides, assessments, etc. as necessary.
• Utilize a variety of methods and teaching strategies that reflect different learning styles and needs.
• Continuously create, review and make revisions to technical curricula for the LMS to ensure alignment with industry standards.
• Ensures consistency of content delivery for all training programs and required materials.
• Defines objectives, activities, and assessment strategies.
• Conducts on-site assessments of locations installation and maintenance functions to determine needs for follow-up training.
• Evaluate technician feedback to assess learning outcomes and ensure the appropriateness of course content.
• Translates key technical training content into a variety of mediums including PowerPoint and live presentations.
• Reviews and monitors the evaluations of all technical students participating in ARS/RR Training Academies and promotes their professional growth.
• Participates in the annual review and revision of all technical offerings in the program of studies and recommends modifications, additions, and deletions that ensure optimum learning opportunities for all students.
• Adheres to technical budgets according to the prescribed procedure and timeline.
• Works with the Director of Technical Training and other staff to remain current on industry issues and developing appropriate resolutions.
• Participates in the recruitment, hiring and retention of all technical teachers and support staff as necessary.
• Ensures adherence to all health and safety standards in all technical teaching environments.
• Sets-up, configures and maintains classroom equipment and training tools.
• Participates in the design, development and updating of support materials consisting of training guides, practical exercises, assessments and other handouts consistent with updates and revisions.
• Assists in the coordination of scheduling and logistics for all technical training sessions.
• Provides back-up technical support for technical students when required.
• Provides feedback and support to other departments as needed with insight gained from training interactions.
• Performs other job functions as assigned.

• Bachelors Degree or higher or a minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in developing and delivering HVAC training content.
• Professional experience in residential heating and cooling industry.
• Excellent class management and public speaking skills.
• Flexible schedule necessary.
• Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, beliefs and experiences across different functional areas and geographic locations.
• Ability to travel 60% of the time
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills required.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to translate complex thoughts and ideas and communicate them in an easy-to-understand format.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other individuals and groups across the enterprise.
• Vocational/college teaching experience preferred.
